Black & White Basics: Trainer Haul

When scrolling through Instagram, I can’t help but notice that every girl is wearing the same thing – trainers. These days, trainers aren’t just for the gym and can be worn for pretty much any occasion, whether that’s a causal shopping trip, going for lunch or even a slightly fancier occasion. Up until recently, these were a few myths I believed about trainers...

Myth #1 Trainers are for ‘tomboys’
For a long time, I didn’t think trainers would suit my style as I’ve always been a bit of a girly-girly. However, I’ve learnt that they're not just for ‘tomboys’, and given the right pair, you can still feel and look girly.

Myth #2 Trainers are expensive
Whilst a lot of popular shoe brands, such as Adidas and Nike, retail their trainers for high prices, you don’t have to spend a fortune to follow this trend. If you’re on a budget, like me, then check out some high-street brands. A lot of them are selling fashionable trainers at a fraction of the price.

If you're looking for a pair of affordable but stylish white or black trainers, then keep reading to see what I've just bought and would recommend...

PLT ‘White Chunky Trainers’ £25
Any pair of fresh white trainers can transform a casual outfit into a chic and put-together look. I love the detailing, especially on the soles, which creates a slightly chunky look, whilst still being feminine.

My only criticism is that these are not the comfiest pair of trainers (I’m hoping to break them in). However, if you’re looking for a basic white pair of trainers at an affordable price, then these are perfect as they only cost £25!

Topshop ‘CIARA monochrome chunky Trainers’ £39
Of course, a girl can’t buy just one pair of shoes, so I treated myself to a black pair too. These ones from Topshop are great for anyone who loves chunky trainers, as the white soles are very thick. This isn’t a style I’d typically go for, however when paired with leggings or black jeans and a t-shirt, it creates an easy and stylish, everyday-look.

They are very spongy and soft inside, which is similar to more expensive pairs of branded trainers. I plan on wearing mine to uni or when walking around town, as they are very comfortable and can be paired with a lot of basic outfits.

Leave me a comment telling me what your favourite pair of trainers are, I’d love to know! And don't forget to follow my fashion account on 21 buttons:
